Default Bristlenose Pleco? Think again!

Most aquarist and LFS will recommend bristlenose as a small algae eater that is hardier than Otos for planted tanks. My previous Veiltail BN was a model fish, hardworking and left my plants alone.

My current BN has aquired a taste for Echinodorus leaves. I left it at 1 inch a year ago in my 5ft and forgot about it. Very good at hiding. Time to get it out.

99.9% sure . The leaf looks to be chewed up and the damage appeared overnight so its not some diesease or deficiency. Tank occupants are tetras, rainbowfish, botia, flagtail catfish and Otos.

Do you feed the pleco? If not, you can't blame the pleco for eating up the plants. Replace pleco with apple snails for algae removal?
