Like what the name suggests, its for livestock to seek refuge.

Its basically just another tank. We usually incorporate it into the sump. I've seen a hang-on refugium before somewhere on reefcentral forums.

Usually, we grow macroalgae in there for nutrient export. We can also incorporate a DSB/Plenum in there to further aid in no3 control.

yah...go 4 a search on this forum with the word.

basically it reduces the NO3 in the long run.

it increase water capacity and a additional space to have seahorse or some difficult to feed fish
