actinic light question
ok.. some idiotic question?
wat's the different between fl light system and actinic light system? is it just the tube diff? can i just take out the fl tube and put in actinic tube? |

Actinic just mean blue colour lights. There are actinic FLs, PLs, t5s and even MH.
Actinic blue is mainly for aesthetic purposes and doesn't serve much purpose, don't use a pure actinic lighting system. Photosynthetic corals rely more on white lights than actinic blue lights to produce food. |

generally agree with Kalib.
blue lights is nice to look at. I get to see creatures that comes out at night and behave normally. |

blue light is very useful 4 coraline algae propagation. study has found out tat those LR deep below where blue spectrum can only penetrate can produce very good coraline algae. however, it can only b done during the initial stages of a aquarium setup. search the web n u will know more.

Nope. From what i know, more red in the light spectrum will promote algae growth.
