How to siphon uneaten food and waste from 2.5 height tank

i used to have this problem until i installed a powerhead to blow all the poo into my filter inlet. then all i need to do is to maintain the filter. the downside to this is that yr fishes may not like the current and the extra expense on electricity bill to run the powerhead
