yes they can as they are air breathers, they occasionally surface for air.

A big thank you to every fellow forummer for the kind words. Aquascaping has always been an intricate part of the aquarium hobby to me, hence i really enjoy laying the flora and hardscape to my satisfaction.

It might be absurd but i have rainbows, that i think, might live peacefully with other smaller shoaling fishes based on this experience -

My rainbow channas were fed on a regular diet of feeder frogs but i decided to let them have maybe a more 'balanced' diet by buying a pack of feeder fishes from our LFS. The amazing thing is that the snakeheads left the fishes alone with at least a week while being deprived of their usual frog diet. I have no idea how this works but i have the exact same number of feeder fishes that was earlier introduced into the tank as food. Didn't had the heart to starve my fishes any longer and only upon seeing their usual frogs, did the fishes start feeding. Bizzare, isn't it?

Marc, the channas are all bought from LFS. Don't think any of the dwarf snakes are native to our waters really no time to fish nowadays, that's why decided to return to the fish keeping hobby. Cheers.
