Default Help! worms in CRS tank

Recent weeks, we notice these worms like thingy in our crs tank. We would catch them whenever we see any, but its like never ending.

Not too sure if this is planaria... Tried googling, but still wanna double confirm.
Can anyone please advise what are these and is there any way we can remove these worms completely?

Below are some of the photos I took earlier.

This is a clearer picture of how it looks like when I place it in a white plastic spoon.

Yes, these are planaria. The presence of these pest may be due to overfeeding. What you can do is to remove them manually if you happened you see them in your tank. These worms may pose a threat to your shrimps.

to be completely honest pinkinblue bro, i have a few in my tank.

they are completely harmless except to irritate my eyes when im looking into my tank. i think the threat they pose have been abit blown out of proportion. i used to worry none stop about them. and finally got rid of them by redoing my tank.

but now they are back.. and they don't bother my shrimps.

if they are unsightly, stop feeding your shrimps for awhile. they will go away.

But we realised that there are dead shrimps more often after we spotted these planaria. All our crs which initially were carrying eggs were also dead.

When we retrieve the dead bodies out of the tank, we spotted planaria on the bodies as well...

so the main cause of these planaria would be over feeding?

1. It come with new plants purchase.
2. Hidden Dead shrimps in tank not remove.

Over feeding is another type of worms.

it is due to overfeeding, although overfeeding also attracts many other pests eg. thread worms too.
planaria normally appears in shrimp tanks. unremoved dead shrimps are also food for them....

Hi, you said that hidden dead shrimps in tank not remove could also be the problem.

I think I have another new problem. I just started using this bottle trap method which I found in the web to trap planaria. However, I'm using dead prawns (those that we eat, but still uncook) as bait.

Will it worsen the planaria situation?
Cos after we set up the trap just 3 hours ago, we manage to catch quite a number of planarians, which we thought this is a good idea where we can use and leave it overnight daily.

So... is this method really suitable to use it daily? Will it affect the quality of the water?

Attached are the pictures of our progress.

Hi, to my knowledge i think better not to put too long in to your shrimp tank.
the main reason is that. the prawn as a bait will dissolve slowly when time passby, as i will make the Nritate and amonnia to be high, will cause harmful to your tank. so try to put in too long. jus my 2 cents .. enjoy your hobby!
