Default How to breed those feeder shrimps?

Hi,

Anybody can provide some guidelines in breeding those feeder shrimps we buy from fish shops as feeders? What are the basic conditions and how long will it take?

i am planning to use a 2 ft tank to keep them so i do not need to buy them so frequently. Thanks.

If i'n not wrong those shrimps have pinser and will try to pull plants out so u cannot really keep a good planted with those shrimps unless u just keep a tank with plants

They need saltwater to breed and their young have to go thru a larva stage.
I think it would be better if u tried to breed Cherry shrimp. Once they start breeding they are indestructible

i thought those type of shrimp is glass shrimp, can breed in freshwater. it is just that the young will swim to brighter places and will bang head on the tank if outside is brighter until it die.

The OP is looking to breed the feeder shrimps as live food for his fish(?)

Cherry shrimp is too expensive to be used as feeder, dont you think?

Unless you have the place to mass breed them, I can tell you to forget about it. Just not worth the effort and time taken.

Bro, many many yrs ago i tried liao. Got them to breed and grow the shrimp to half inch...but process too long, yield too low. Better to buy.

For your info, the shrimps in lfs are wild caught in sg and malaysia. Not that viable to commericially breed them as well.
