Need some help for a goldfish noob.
I had re-kindle my fish keeping hobby after a long break of 6 years.
Recently bought a 3 ft tank and pick 2 of the following : (Left Thumbnail) and a (Right Thumbnail) and re-learn the fundamentals. After almost a week in my tank, I noticed the black chap is very slow as compared to the other 2 whites and it seems to have a problem looking for pellets floating on the top. The 2 whites will go straight for the pellets without any mistake. The black fellow will gulp gulp at a area and hopefully some pellets got suck in. Is this normal? Thanks. |

Normally I would feed ranchu with sinking pellets cos most of the time they search for food on the tank floor.

Luckily I started my 3 ft tank with just 3 buggers.
They are hell of a shitters man... Just 2 meals (morning and nite) and these 3 fellas produce tons of waste... Well, water change planned for this Sunday, have to get more pails to age the water... (Oh, my feeding are controlled portion, I make sure the 3 fellas finished their food within the 5 ~ 6 mins windows) |

Yup.. sinking pellets should help. Try the hikari lionhead sinking pellets. My goldfishes finish them up in a frenzy.

What Albert said is right, we don't normally mix orandas with ranchus. Your black ranchu has quite massive wen which obstruct it's view. So be it floating or sinking pellets, it'll still eats slower than your orandas.
