Default Noobie Aro keeper

My tank had been vacant for a while and I was thinking of starting to learn aro-keeping. Was browsing through some LFS and was told that green aro is rather hardy and cheap to learn the skill of aro-keeping.

Do like the graceful swimming for aro and would like to learn aro-keeping step by step. Should I take up the LFS recommendation for those baby green aro? I think $20 or so for a 12-cm green.

Thanks for the advise.

Does green come with cert?

Was told Green are not the "dunno-what-protected" range and also dont need microchip thus cheap.

With my very limited knowledge, beside Silver/Pearl/black/african, all other aro need to be tagged.

Any Sifus pls correct me if I'm wrong.

Hi bro,

Are u from sg? I dunno bout other country but in sg unless you are buying silver/black/jardini/pearl or any other aro there will be tag. Green have to be tagged before they can be legally sold. And the best price i have seen for green aros is ard 60-80++ but that was sometime back..so am not sure the price range now.

Do check with the lfs for the tag issues and make sure that your tank is ready for an aro.

All the best for your up coming aro keeping!

Cheers and regards

Why not go for an RTG instead? Hardiness wise, i believe most aros the same. Its only the price tag and personal preference. I've kept green before, and unless you are a fan for greenie, or you've gotten a unique/special one, then maybe not.

agree with bros here
start with RTG
careful about defects when choosing
ie: droop eye / PLJ / swim bladder problems etc
