How to do see the difference between a male and a female res thanks

How big is it? If it's too small or young its almost impossible to tell. The very obvious telltale sign is the nails of res. Long nails=male while short nail=female this nail difference will only start appearing if they are above 5-6" in size.
Plus the reason of why the males have longer nails is because of the mating ritual between rival males is needed during the breeding season
