bara and merah are the name of 2 different kind red kelah. and the location of bara mostly are 3 river . tembat .belum and sorry forget the last one.and the quality is tembat>belum>the last one normally the ones selling in lfs are kelah merah. Sorry im just focus on the bara so i dont know too much about the merah.but i have seen some pics of big merah .some are really red as bara. but the shape of fish is different. I have seen some post as kelah bara merah like u said bro. also got ppl add tengas in behind as well.but tengas is another name of green kelah as we know. So I really have no idea when they put all name together hahaha |

All the while I've been offered / bought "bara merah" which looks light pinkish to me till the day I gotten the "tembats". Thats why I can compare both fishes i.e Tembats & so called "Bara Merah". Then came to a conclusion that Bara merah and tembat strains are different. Now with some information from you, I can conclude that : In actual those "Bara Merah" that I have are in fact Kelah Merah. And the real Bara's are only from Tembat, Belum and forgotten place ( nenggiri ?? ). Thanks for the heads up bro. |

Seaview had 2 mature tor sinensis specimens a couple weeks ago. They were labeled as pheonix barb. About 20cm. Matched the ID on NUS publications. Not sure if they re still there though. I ve been looking out for them too but that pair was abit too ex for me.
