Well there are other tell tale sign of a female which I have yet learn.

From my counting.. the farms have more PLJs and my causal comments on aros with PLJ as a defect gets me glare.

So I was told to go check out how many PLJ aros are there..

As to another question on the retail of aros by another bro..

It's your money!!! if PLJ disgust you.. don't buy loh.. the LFS can't force u right?

Any idea how to identify male and female silvers?
Was thinking of setting up a silver pond for breeding.
I do have silvers over 2ft without PLJ.

That explains why aros with PLJ usually got some superb colouration and why judges in japan are actually giving points for PLJ. I learnt from the farm owners that the PLJ would automatically slide in to balance out with the upper jaw during brooding with the eggs inside the jaws.(I think you should also know about this long time ago right )
Anyway it was entertaining and knowledgable going to XL farm with you. Hope you organise this trip for more newbies in future.
