Default 1 year later - Update on Nhamunda heckel discus biotope tank (Picture intensive)

A long overdue update of the Heckel tank as well, since I updated the Curuai tank over the weekend.

This tank has seen much less drama than the Curuai tank, though I did experience one sudden death with no forewarning whatsoever. I had someone come in the morning to purchase some of my earth eaters, and all the discus were feeding fine when I fed the tank to show the buyer that the EEs were eating. Netted out the EEs and an hour later walked into the room to find one of the smaller discus dead with no wounds. My only suspicion is that the netting of the EEs stressed it and it darted around and banged its head into the glass, causing death.

The remaining 11 Heckels are doing well. After doing all sorts of tankmate changes over the last year, I think I've settled on a stable setup. Only thing left to add is baby S. daemons once they become available again.

This tank is a little dirty because I've been lazy, so please forgive the dirt - I promise I'll siphon it out soon!

Once again, many thanks to pro photographer bro Wing.feng for the photos!

This is the last time I can call this a Nhamunda heckel tank. I couldn't resist and added 2 Paunini Blue Moon heckels from Hudson's 2nd shipment this year In future this can only be the "Heckel Tank", or "Blue Heckel Tank", or "Blue Moon and Blue Face Tank" hahaha

Very serene set up... Very soothing to the eyes.. Tank size looks big! may i know what are the tank measurements?

Always liked it when DWs are placed in a position where they look like roots,

heiko should consider featuring this tank (and other buddy's tank here) in his Discus 04 book! if he were to continue with his series!
