need help to confirm Channa's problem !
okay so all along my Auranti has been doing very well
and feeding like a glutton . pics of it . http://www.arofanatics.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=329581 but yesterday when i switched on the Tank's light at night , i noticed part of the Anal fan cut / shredded off . around a 1cm long tear , it sure looked like the fish injured itself ( cause it was the only fish in the tank ) , but im so phobiamatic right now fearing that it might be fin rot . it doesn't have any red swelling , no white spots and the rest of its body except the Anal fin is in perfect condition . it still can flare up normally , it just looked damaged but i need more clarifications . i did a water change also by the way , today i observed it again . took some pics , not so clear but i need some confirmations / advices . and also if its just a tear , i hope it can heal up nice and well back to the old look again , looked quite serious . basically the white thin things you guys are seeing is its fin bones , and some shredded skin sticking to those bare fin bones , and thinning of the skin nearby the affected area .. so whats the conclusion of you guys ? |

Just add salt and monitor. Any idea how it could have injured itself since it is the only fish in the tank?

i have sinking logs inside the tank , have some sharp edges .
and i've seen a few times when it acts crazy and just curls itself up into the typical S shape and then slam itself aggressive on the surrounding nearby . already added salt , in your opinion does it look like Fin Rot or Injuries ? |

look like injuries to me. try to shift the tank away from heavy human flow. Which might cause the fish to turn crazy. N dun switch on light in the middle of the night, or else he will turn crazy again.

Your Aurant does all this? Mine just lay near the surface or at the bottom sulking most of the time. Only when a bf is dropped in does it rush with flaring for it.
Yeah, likely injury and no worries with that, in a comm tank you see plenty such injuries at the lfs. Keep the water clean so that it doesn't get secondary infection. I'd standyby antibiotics but not use it unless necessary, usually some salt and clean water should help with the healing knowing Aurants are tough cookies. |

it definitely became worst now ..
look at the pics , its spreading . and a little bit of the gills of its lower body connected to its fin looked like its also starting to rot / damaged . |
