30 years ago today, 96 children, women and men lost their lives at Hillsborough.
Our thoughts are with all those affected by the tragedy and the 96 fans who will never be forgotten. |

The secret message Liverpool's Mohamed Salah may have been sending with yoga celebration vs Chelsea
After Mohamed Salah scored his breathtaking goal at Anfield during the 2-0 win against Chelsea, Liverpool fans noticed he did a yoga pose as his celebration. The brilliant Egyptian was quick to confirm this, saying jubilantly 'I'm a yoga man!' when asked about it . But Salah's choice of pose also contained a possible secret message to Liverpool fans too. Emma Stubbs, a yoga teacher who runs her own business Stubbs Yoga, explained what Salah was doing. She said: "Tree pose is about balance, so he could have been showing off how good his balance is. "However it is also about grounding, about someone sending their roots into the earth and making a connection. "So that means Mo Salah was showing his commitment to Anfield and Liverpool by standing in a tree pose and connecting to the place and the club." Emma explained there might have been an extra meaning to his stance too. "In tree pose, you normally extend your hands over your head," she said. "Mo Salah had his hands in front of his heart centre on his chest. "Doing that is a way of showing honour to yourself and to the other people close to you, of recognising your soul. "So when you put the two together, he was honouring his team mates and the Liverpool fans while showing his connection and belonging at Anfield. "If that's what he was going for then he hit the nail on the head in his celebration." Emma has been practicing yoga for nine years and teaching it for two-and-a-half years. She said any top class sportsman would benefit from yoga. She added: "I have worked with Widnes Vikings in the past, and they wanted to focus on movement and flexibility, especially in the hips. "However for me the greater benefit is the focus it brings. If you're in a high pressure situation like a match where you're expected to perform, being able to connect with your focus and breathing would be the biggest benefit a professional sportsman could get. "All the physical stuff is a bonus." |
