Default Koi Pond Dimensions?

Hi Guys,

Would like to ask questions regarding a proper dimension of a koi FGT assuming that I intend to keep koi that can grow to good size of say 80bu range.

Assuming that space is a constraint, what is the minimum size for about 10 pcs of 60bu - 80bu koi?

Is there any minimum depth requirements? 3ft enough?
Is there any minimum width requirements? 4ft enough?
Is there any minimum length requirements? 10ft enough?

Much like the width requirements for adult aros to turn and height requirements for rays to breed etc.

Is that any simple calculation like the 1 tonne of water can keep how many fish?

Thanks in advance for any advise

With Best Regards,
Samuel Phan

The max I can do is 12 X 6 X 4. Anything bigger will look out of place in my backyard.

of course you can, but considering you wanna keep 10 pieces, it will be abit crowded in there, supposing you wanna jump in to swim with them

This size should be OK but you need to work hard to achieve your goal.

bro,

Generally the guideline is 1ton of water per 1 koi, but i would say that to be the minimum for pond. I raise my koi in an environment like 5tons per fish.

If u look at the Malaysian koi forum, Yotti from Thailand raised his jumbo koi in an 18ton pond (Pond 12tons, filter 6tons), with quite shallow depth. Somebody put the link in one of our threads here but i cant remember where, will find u a link in a while.

To raise 10pcs of koi to 80Bu in FGT is quite a feat, and i'm not sure if the standard sized FGTs can be that big. To get 10tons of water in the FGT, my rough est is abt 12'x8'x4' excluding filter.

I think Ah Hock also thinking of it but he scared his roof give way...
