Sorry to dig out tis old thread, but may I ask if anyone tried keeping L46 with europet white sand as base?

Yes bro, tried. Not really good as the food tend to stick to the substrate and quite a hard time cleaning up. Black will bring out the L46 beauti, maybe u wanna try black color substrate.

I started out with bare bottom. Then slowly add abit till a thin layer. Once you used to it. Maintenance is not too bad. Just a thin layer, so when they swim around they stir abit and with regular WC it should be fine (:

Have 2 1-feet tanks, one with small pebbles stones ( tank n pebbles are more than 6 years old ) and an almost 1 year old tank with fine black sand.
Can see they enjoy digging around the sand to create their own crevices.
They even bred once in the pebbles tank.
Come to think of it, my L46 are more than 6 years old now. Wonder how long they can live? The biggest one is super duper fat..

my 6 year old 1 feet tank




This my 1 year old 1 feet tank for L46 babies with my other babies.
