Using Vinegar to lower pH, but....
My 522 tank pH is 7.7 for the past few months after I washed the media in the sump was pH 6.5 before. Trying to use vinegar to lower it but found that after a few hours the pG will bounce back to 7.7 again, can any experts here can advice the right ways to lower pH by using vinegar?

Hmm what fish are you keeping that require you to lower the PH? Wouldn't it make water changes difficult and risky?

Using vinegar is a v short term solution the effects usually lasts only 1-2days max.
But the most important question have u calibrated your pH meter? If yes. N if you have any cc or os in your tank remove them bit by bit to lower your pH slowly. Hope it helps. |

use vinegar canot substain.
use peat instead and buy a few packs depend on tank size. sometime for maintenance or washing media i may use the ocean free " Pure Liquid" to activate the bacteria. Once working it may drop for PH for my case or stablise. |

OPFL provides surface area for the bbs only. Should get ocean free super battle bacteria 8000/10000. For adding bbs in to the system.

im not an expert, but you could look into increasing kH (carbonate hardness) by adding coral chip/ crushed coral powder. This builds the buffering ability of your water parameters which would result in lesser pH changes.

I have this problem before. Just remove some of your coral chips or oyster shells will suffice.
