recommend salinity shuld be from 1.023 - 1.025 ppm. you could also try aerating the water by placing in an air pump. however this is not a long term solution to sustain a condusive enviroment to keep grouper. btw groupers are known not to be much of a mover...they generally stay in 1 position could this be a reason for its behavior? and also if i find a fish that blinks...i'll probably be quite afraid. if you get wat i mean

You need roughly 35 grams (varies with brand) of salt per litre of fresh water to get a decent mix of salt water for keeping marine fish. 90% of your 2x1.5x1.5 tank is roughly 115 litres, which means you need close to 4kg of salt.
I'm guessing you don't have a hydrometer to measure the salinity of the water? Also, it is not advisable to add in a fish immediately after mixing the water, cos the salt and mineral may not be completely dissolved, appearing cloudy. The particles could sting the gills of the fish. As for the air disc to aerate the water, it is probably not enough to keep the fish for long term. |

wild caught grouper quite hardy but still yur salinity must be correct as adviced by bros here..... once u get it rite have a proper filter system to sustain the fish eg liverocks, or OHF... need proper system if u intend to keep longterm.... unless u intend to consume it .... pls do not introduce it to yur existing marine tank (if u have one) until properly quarantined....

hi
hi, first off... did you use a distilled water to mix with your salt mix? salinity meter is a must for saltwater hobbyist... thats the first most inexpensive thing in your tank that you should'nt miss, anyways, going back... you should have at least tried to aerate the mixture for at least 2.5hrs before you put in the fish to give the salt mix and the water enough time to blend... and another thing, at least give the fish some time to acclimate with the tank water temperature... at least 1.5 hours. how you do it? keep the fish in the plastic, then float it in the tank... keep the plastic closed (i assume you put some o2 in it) then after an hour, open the plastic, you can start mixing your tank water in the plastic slowly... and so on...
