Suffice to say that, after 3months, the amount of hairgrass remained the same quantity... Whilst in my planted with CO2 and regular ferts and T5 lighting, my JHG and normal HG have essentially covered the entire foreground and spaces between other plants as well.

Im trying to carpetize my tank w hg but seems growing very slowly. I hv Abt 3bps and weekly ferts of trace elements. Abt 8-10hrs of light depending on how early i reach home from work. What else do u think i shld add? Flourish Excel/comprehensive trace element?
Btw, i do mosura trace element at 1-2time / mth. Lol, i hv strands of algae which im depending on sae to remove but it end up uprooting my hg.. -.-"

What about N,P,K? Trace is not enough. Once you start seeing runners in the sand, that means it's starting to spread.

Yes, NPK. I dose twice a week, but my tank is quite a lot of plants now. Every week have to prune... Zzz... Are you using T5? I'm using 2x16W on my 1.5ft-er + another set of LEDs... Starting also very slow, but once they send out runners... OMG, they won't stop! Took me about a month to spread my HG and JHG... Now it's virtually a grassland. Wife don't like...

Macro. The main food for the plants. Traces is just like dessert.
