Default Type of filter

Hi Experts, I'm planning to set up a 2x2x2ft aquatic plant tank. For the filter system, which is better ya, those canister type or sump tank? Thank you so much..

IMO, a canister filter is better. The plumbing takes less space in tank and the whole system is a lot easier to clean and maintain. Plus, sump tanks loses more CO2, although it can still sustain enough for planted tank.

Sump tanks are favored for larger tanks (larger than 4x2x2) as its not easy to find powerful enough canister filters that are silent enough. Usually need to run 2 or more on a 6x2x2.

If you are really going planted go canister. Unless your tank damn bloody huge then go sump amano's giant tanks mostly are sump filter tank.

IOS is just another kind of sump filtration. My opinion on it is the same as my reply earlier in this thread.

I would go for sump if i have a larger tank let's say 4-5ft. Just inject more co2. Reduces piping, reduces surface film very effective.
