BryanYueng,

When u ask me to judge yr fish, i got a feeling u are in top 3.

at the competition, how many aro are there? how many different types of xb are there? did yr aro receive alot of attention, or ppl just glance thru and walk away? Those non-winning fishes, does it attract alot of attention? who is the panel of judges? Does it belong to the judges or his farm of aro? and many more.

Hello Bryan,

About your question
Fish is okey. Base on photos.
Bryan fish beauty depend on the person.
Like me if I'm the judge (not saying i can be a judge or I am a judge)
If given the chance to be the judge of this fish.
First better to see in person if not possible then
Video.
Cause in the photos all i can say fish is good. The lower jaw might be
Longer but i am more on the overall looks of the fish
Maybe better like this.
There are 300 fish to judge.
What i do is take out fish not swimming well No matter how good is the color.
Assuming im a judge in a competition
Then pick try to choose fish swimming so arrogant and feels he is the kung of the tank.
After check on the color, eyes, jaw, fins, etc.
This is me and i dont know if this is correct if being a judge.
But i do think there no right or wrong here so just sharing you my thought

That is my way on choosing fish.
I believe a colorful fish is no match with a fish that swim so good.
I hope no one will think (so a green arowana swimming so good will win and beat a ni good swimmer gold arowana) i hope not.
I think hard to train the fish to be a showfish when it comes to swimming.
But have both together is something else.

Bryan i think the best is for you to know what you want and what was given to
Your option.

Like are you looking for
The shape
Swimming
More intense color
Big tail
Nice head (which depend on your like)
In WTT or In BTT.
Size of the fish you like to start keeping.
And price you want to pay for.

If you know all this. I think would help
You decide if your fish is good. Good means good for you.
Do not buy fish base on what other said.
Buy because you love the fish.
With this.
Your fish is always a champion.

Hope this make better understand regarding
Preferences.
That is why my thread title is
Which fish would you choose.

Bryan

I might not get your question. If your asking if your fish wil
Join a aro competition.

I think that answer is really depend on

Judge
Other fish
Sponsor
Connection
Country
And
Event.

@StevenTan: no, my question is simple. Do u see some potential on my Aro? Really the lower jaw is longer? Thanks. I'll try to get another photo of the fish with good lights. My light is awful, so dimmed.

Bryan, what Steven saying is this, if he is a JUDGE - Singapore just held a small fish competition, Cat B red aro, 4 pcs of 7 inch, 3 pcs of 12 inch, the other 3 tank is empty. All those 7 inches got no colours, maybe crack cheeks. But those 12 inches all has colours, all blooming halfway. So if the 4 pcs are super active while the 3 pcs medium size is resting in 1 corner, so the winner will belong to the 4 small aro. it doesn't matter the red aro got colours or not.

so, u seek his advice, fish not active now, next time it will always be inactive?

So when u buy fish, seek the active first. Red aro not red, its ok. Gold aro not gold, its ok. Not GH, also ok.

Bryan, if one day yr fish is not active, remember to change the water.

Hello Bryan,

Your question if your fish is potential.
But first need to clear up about if I'm the judge
I'll take out fish that is not swimming well in my list to be my
Pick because its a competition.
Just like saying a mrs. Universe possess beauty and perfect body.
But when it comes to answer and question category all she answer is wrong
I mean example the judge ask her can she dance? She replied "dancing is good and makes people not sleepy". Or when she walk. She walks like she is drunk or her face is like she needs to go to the toilet.
I dont know but i cant choose her to be part of my list.
Its a competition. Every category counts.
But i dont know if it is allowed in competition where the judge can change the water because maybe the fish is stress or sick.
Then the judge must be in a wrong department. Judge is there to judge.
Simple.
I saw one competition a dog show where a dog so beautiful and all people cheer for that dog to win because it is the best dog in the show. But it did not even win a thing and get disqualified because the dog is oversize. So what if its oversize.
Thats how the dog show rule say. Hope people get what I'm trying to say about not choosing the arowana who doesn't swim well.

So regarding your question.
Is your fish potential?
Potential for going to a competition at his size?
Potential to fully cross?
Potential to have intense gold
Potential to be the fish you desire.

Hard to answer your question really. Cause I have my own preference.
Which is simple.
In choosing arowana and hoping to be a potential.
First i need to know my choices. How many can i choose and do i really need to get one.
If i need to get one.
If there a fish at 10" that posses full helmet and already cross with fins and strong gold tone. I'll choose it.The swimming of the fish depend if its just temporary.
That i will choose.
And if there no one like that then if i need to get one. I have to choose the next close to it.

I can not say its not potential. Because i can not also say or sure guaranty that fish will cross or will turn solid gold in the future.
All i can say is a potential fish is a fish that already posses the things you want.
Not potential the fish will cross because almost there. Many 2 more years it will cross.
I'm saying its potential already because its all there. All we have to do is take good care of the fish.
But always remember it does not mean 100% when fish big it will be the fish you want to be.
But i like this chances of getting the fish i desire rather than
Someone telling me its potential or just wait 3 to 5 years.

Always choose the fish you think its best for you and choose/find a fish that pass your check list and love for the fish.
But above all. Budget play a big part here.
I remember finding a fish and everything is perfect.
Except my budget is not even close to the selling price.
So i have to choose where my budget is belong. Which in the end was not happy because i still dream if that fish untill now.

Hope this help you

Thanks.
