It is no good to starve your aro for too long. Perhap u can try to insert the pellet into the MP and use it to feed your aro.

IMO, the duration of how long the fish can be starve before it dies is quite subjective. Poor/No diet can also lead to poor health or too weak to fend off bullies (especially in comm tanks).

I've fishes that didn't eat for a good 8 weeks before they cave in for pellets or i cave in to give them what they want.

The main challenge of pellet training is that the fish don't recognise that pellets are food. This usually applies more towards WC fishes or fishes who have never tasted or seen pellet food.

Starving method works most of the time but if you are worried, perhaps you can also try:
1) adding tankmates that eat pellets

2) Stuffing pellet into MP. Once they start eating MP+pellet, you can slowly increase the amount of pellet stuffing and then cut off MP.

3) Alternate feeding of MP and pellet (works best for comm tanks). Assuming that your fishes are hungry, the competition for food will make your fishes whack whatever that hits the water without inspecting the food. So, start with small cut MP and drop them in 1 at a time. If they don't hit the MP immediately when it hits the water, stop feeding and try another day. If they do hit immediate, for every 2nd or 3rd MP you try, throw in a pellet. Repeat till success. You can get creative and combine this method with #2. Alternate feeding of MP+pellet and pellet only.

1 final note, frequent water changes does help a lot in pellet training.

All the best.

Actually aros in comm are much easier to pellet train then aros kept solo....I discovered that my XB feeds only Hikari carni pellets as she ate them which originally was meant for my EBH...get some tankmates that feed on pellets and hopefully yr comm will be pellet-trained soon....

If i were you I will mix pellet with MP, you might want to cut the Mp into smaller pieces and mix it with pellet ( broken into small small parts) after mixing them, you put them back into the freezer, when u take it out next time, it will be in one piece. Feed them that for a about a week(once a day). After the week reduce the among of Mp and increase the among of pellet, this goes on for about 4 to 6 weeks. Hopeful by the end of the month, they are eating pellet .

My aro comm start eating pellet after 3rd week haha..
