For sure, participants can choose. Choosing is also part and parcel of the whole event. So in the participation of this event, it starts from the choosing of arowanas. But not beforehand. This is about skill and to enhance, develop each individual's skill.

Anyway, this is very preliminary. The event is thought of with you guys, hobbyists, in mind. If enough people are in favour and want it, we will do the legwork and prepare for it. Which means we will need to talk to the individual farms to support the event.

Obviously, you cannot use ur own current fish to participate. It has to be purchased from one of the participating farms. It is not compulsory to purchase from every farm or even any farm but then that means u got no fish to participate.
Dear Boss,

Just maybe a stupid question as it is my "virgin" participation, willing to help out in whatever logistics, including "tong bang" of those who don't drive to various farms.

However, maybe you could advise whether is there any entry costs for both AFC and non-AFC members that we require to pay upfront before the event launch as I'm jio-ing some of my kakis into participation.

Hope you could advise..

Thank you boss..

Brgds

Dear sir

I have no idea at this point in time. While I would like to encourage participation and make it free for everyone, I have costs to meet in running a competition, as in the prize money, trophies, setup costs etc

And we have not begin to talk to the farms yet. The main thing is the level of participation. I understand this is a chicken and egg situation but at this point in time, I dun have any idea.

Supposing we have 10 farms, each willing to come up with 10 aros. That will mean 100 pieces. Supposing each member is willing to buy one, we need 100 participants. Or maybe some members will want to buy more. Not sure but perhaps u all can let me know what u all have in mind.

After all, the event is catered with u guys in mind, so any suggestions will be taken into consideration. Tell us what u all are willing to commit and what u all wud like to have.

Boss, I see where you are coming from, the level of participation and also the take up rate perhaps? May i propose we express interest on participating and also the breed of aro, XB or Red to funnel down the selection, so when committee talk to farms, able to have some numbers on hand?

I think it will be a 2 event, the selection of aro ... and then maybe 6-12 months later the competition? As much as I hope to have as little payment as possible I understand that there are underlying / overheads to cover such as transportation, etc. Maybe a participation fee as sinking fund?

Eg, If I am keen to get a xb.. I go to the selection, pay a fee of say $30 to reimburse the cost. Then pay separtely for the aro.

Just my humble suggestion..
