For me i throw in the Chinese Algae eater (i think its different from SAE). Reason being:
1) Cheaper for me since i have quite a no of tanks (i think i bought less than a $1 for each) 2) Hardy n tolerate most water condition so long its not sudden introduction in tank..definitely more hardy than otto (which may not tolerate high ph) 3) Fast enough to escape the cichlids compared to plecs 4) Will scrap off small corners n stones (but will snatch some food frm my tropheus) As for agression, it is quite naughty at times but no worries ur cichlids should be tougher Last edited by cichildae; 24-12-2009 at 11:44 AM. |

Bro Cichlidae - do your algae eater do a good job of cleaning the glass? I actually only wanted the glass cleaned and retain the algae on the rocks (more natural) but doubt that is possible.
TS - plecos have very very slow growth rates so no worries on that aspect. But they are more inclined towards low pH although I have seen people keeping them in Tangan setups. |

I'm using the garra loach, spa fish type... so far so good I think... they tend to suck on my hand when I hand feed my fishes...
