I have seen websites stating it from soft to medium-hard KH for rays and this is really confusing me.
rays should do OK in all levels of genral or carbon hardness as long as it is changed slowly with no big changes along the way just keep it stable

i keep my GH @ 10 and my KH @ 7 and my rays seam to do very well at that

with the other fish i keep in the tank i need to keep the PH fairly low between PH 6-6.5 but they will be will be fine up to PH 8

the lower you keep the GH and KH the more chance you will have of a PH crash which in some cases will kill the rays

its no harder to keep a ray in a tank with substrate than it is with a bare bottom tank

hears a pic of my rays as you can see the water is very very clean
Wah, the rays beri nice. What's the convict like creature if my eyes din fail me? Look beri unique

i dont know for sure as i have never bred rays myself but the size of the male is not that important it all depends on the size of his tools

i dont think a female motoro would be ready to breed until she gets to 14-16inch disk

if you are starting off with small rays is normally best to get a much smaller male than the female as then he wont be ready to breed before her and rip her to bits trying

the white patches could be down to another fish sucking on the rays like a pleco or FF

for a ray to die so fast after purchase i would say you may have a amonia problem

if the ray was very skinny and under fed when you 1st got them that could also have been the problem

most freshly imported rays are in a bad way when they 1st arrive at LFS and its a race against time to get them feeding and back in good health

hahah the convict like creture is not alone he has some freinds

its hard to find good tank mates for a ray tank

the fish you can see are geofagus jurapari x 4 and 10 x uaru.f they mix very very well with rays

tigers are also a vey good mix for ray tanks the uaru.f used to beat up my ST and NGT so i had to sell them on
