For some reason, Altolamprologus are particularly sensitive to chlorine. Other Tanga fishes are generally ok.

Ben, thanks for reminding me as I am use to big volume and quick change of water. Luckily, with my Altum at home, water change for Altos is by pail to avoid mixing and contaminating all the fishes.

Since April
These are my experiences since I've started back on Tangs since April.....
1) Started doing water change without using Anti-Chlorine and 90% of my fishes died. Reason for my stupidity is because I've never used anti-chlorine in my olden years of keeping fishes as our 'old' Singapore water somehow 99% of my fishes will adapt and survive then but not now with the NEW Water anti-chlorine is a definite must! Pardon my ignorance as I was out of the fish keeping hobby for 6 years+ (Just came back to Singapore). 2) Bought myself the cheapest made-in-Singapore anti-chlorine and started using it and has 0% problem with water change since. In fact I always blast water almost fully from the HDB tap so it speed up the process and even the sensitive fishes like xeno's & comps or newly bought WC etc are still ok. My first rule of keeping fishes....the fishes have to be able to adapt and survive to my style/methods of water changes/feeding etc or else they must well die and be happily off in heaven lakes. Also, I do at least 70%~90% water changes every 4 days and it's been 5 months since. |
