I have started off my planted tank with Nutrafin. I would say it is a good start for beginner.

what is the ingredient for DIY CO2 in nutrafin bottles?
I filled the first mark inside the bottle with water and then filled water to the 2nd marking, then add in a table spoon of yest and a table spoon of baking soda. after an hour, can see bubbles coming out liao and think it is like 1 bps is my mixture correct? ye !! finally CO2 for my planted tank! |

I got my Nutrafin set about three weeks ago also. But I stopped using the canister provided becos the co2 only lasted less then 10 days. Twice I mixed the ingredients as directed also the same. So now I change to 1 litre 7up bottle and mix ingredients (from supermart) according to recommendation on the forum. Yes I agree with EvolutionZ that there is this white slimy thingy on the flipper that trap the co2 bubble. I took out and wash twice already. Quite troublesome.

Anyway so long as you see outputs it should be fine. Do take note that after a while the bps will increase significantly before dropping down again. Quote:
