Default Drilling Hole in Glass Tank

Hi fellow DIYers have some something for you to try out over the long weekend.

Drilling a hole in glass is not as hard as you think. all you need is the correct equipment. Below is a pictorial guide on how to drill your own tank.

Step 1 : Aquire the tool you need.
1. A low RPM Drill .
2. A Diamond Coated Drill bit
3. Some form of spray container for lubricant.

Step 2 : Marking out the hole .

To prevent the Drill bit from slipping , its advisiable to paste masking tape over the glass before drilling. In this case , I ran out of masking tape so i went on without it .

Step 3 : Drilling

Start drilling at an angle . At the same time , spray water on the bit to lubricate and cool the bit and the glass. Go slow and easy. Once you got a groove on the glass you can slowly straighten the drill bit .

Getting Started

After 5 mins of drill and half way through

After 10mins

OK its just as simple as that .

cheers
