Default Denitrator

So I bought a carbon based Denitrator. Will post pics and results.

Currently tank is heavy bio load. 1 14 inch xb, 1 4 inch Luohan, 3 discus, 5 Peruvian wild Angels, 1 9 inches l330, 2 7 inches L128 and 1 7 inches l200 and 1 13 inch tigrinus catfish.. All in a 4 by 2 by 2.5 with 3 by 1.5 by 1.5 sump.

Water change 70% per week using seachem prime. Ph meter to monitor ph. Wool replaced weekly.

Stay tuned:...

would be interesting to share information on ammonium, nitrate and nitrite readings before and after using the denitrification gadget.

My imaginations tell me that you'll need sufficient aeration to convert ammonium into nitrates before your denitrification gadget can fulfill its full potential of nitrogen removal.

Bro Farish your bioload is very high. I hope the Denitrator could help. May also consider adding in purigen and be more vigilant in changing water. Probably twice a week.

Generally speaking, the concept should work if flow rate is very very slow. This process, eliminates oxygen for cultivation of anaerobic bacteria. The source carbon is preferred as sulphur based denigrators produce byproducts that are harmful.

Bacteria cultivation could take 2 weeks to 1 month.
