To achieve that, we believe education is the key. Not just in getting the breeders and hobbyists sharing the same understanding but also in bringing arowana keeping to a scientific, logical method.

The planned activities for our members will include but not limited to the following short/mid term plans

1. A clubhouse has been found. Although this is not a " open daily cosy corner ", this will be the venue for most of our events in the next one year. Location of the Club is at Singaro.

2. Farm Visits to all our member farms.

3. Auction of arowanas starting from zero dollars. AFC will select and purchase the arowana. It'll be auction off to the highest bidder. No reserve price. Should the price fall below our purchase price, AFC will bear the difference. This is to help our members own arowanas at very affordable rates.

4. Courses on water management. Not just simply on tank cycling but on the many products in the market which we may not know how to use or do not have the full product knowledge on. It could be anything from Bioearth to Melafix to Befuran.

5. A specific professional course on Selection, Appreciation and Competition Judging Criteria. We will invite the farm professionals to conduct this course where participants will learn how to choose a good potential arowana and the difference between a hobbyist's appreciation of an arowana and what makes an arowana a competition champion. Participants will be awarded a certificate upon completion of the course. They will also be invited as our judges in the competitions we organise in future.

6. Grow Out event. We intend to organise a grow out event where participants will buy or bring in their own juvenile arowanas and watch it develop with all the skills you would have acquired in the courses. This will likely be for a period of about 18 months. A champion will be selected at the end of the Grow Out period.

7. Grooming arowanas. The two main species of Red and Gold has varying ways of grooming. A course will be conducted to highlight certain important aspects in the grooming so that members can learn how to bring the best out of your fish.

8. Effect of various circumstances that will affect the development of arowanas. For example the White Tank effect. We intend to keep siblings of the same brood in a white tank and a darker tank over a period of time, watch it's developments and compare the progress. There may be other circumstances eg tankmates, or certain products or even a green/1.5 red in a white tank.

9. Competition. We intend to hold a competition in due course where we will have different categories for farm/commercial entities and hobbyists to compete in. The judges will be those who have participated in the arowana judging course.

10. Recognition. We will be looking at special recognition for outstanding individuals and farms. Hobbyists who do exceptionally well in grooming of both reds and golds, water management, etc. Farms who do exceptionally well in breeding, in promoting the hobby, in research etc. They will all be recognised with awards from AFC.
Can Consider - Rental of Arowana services , Rental of tank for Arowana services ???
