Default 2 filters for a 6ft?

Hey All,

In regards to a 6 x 1.5 x 1.5 feet tank, I was wondering if its better to have two smaller canister filters at either ends of the tank instead of one big cannister filter to ensure good water flow and co2 distribution.

My concerns is that will the fishes in the tank be disorientated by two water flows in two different direction?

At first, I thought of having two filters at one end of the tank, but as the filters have to be powerful enough to reach the end of the 6ft, I am afraid that the current will be too strong at the start of the filter outlet.

Thanks for all your advice.

wow.. 6x1.5x1.5 is pretty low for a planted tank.. why not try for 622? or even better 633... anyway, 2 filter would be much better.. but for a 6ft tank.. a sump would fit the job.. just increase ur co2 rate to make up the loss of co2 with sump..

Its OK.

You can have both inlets at both ends, and the outlets fitted with rainbars placed at the back of the tank and all facing the same direction (probably towards the front).

I personally would prefer this option.

622 or 633 is scary because of the height. I not so pro to scape something that is so "tall". Besides for 633, anything more than 2ft in height will have to use MH liao.

I dun think sump is good for planted tank at all leh.. at the amount of water surface moving, its gonna be a waste of co2.

I get what you mean. Rainbars will mean even distrubuted flow throughout the length of the tank. But, I will not be using rainbars. What do you think if it is just the two outlets pointing at each other?

The filters I will be using are two eheim pro2 2026. 611's volume will just be about under 400 litres.

P.S. Thanks mod for shifting this thread.. sorry for posting in the wrong forum.

I think 2 filters one at each end would be perfect. allows water circulation of whole tank and suction at both ends.. greatly reduces "dead space"... one of ur outlet can "move" e surface while another pointed downwards at 45degrees...

i dunno.. jus my 2 cents...

PS: dun use sump tank la... like mine...losing alot of CO2..

Will the fish get stressed by the different water flows from two ends?

And what do u think of my filter choice?

Agree with bro rOck's config, preference 2 go with 2 canister filter bcos 50% biofilteration load can be maintained if you switch the period between individual canister cleaning. IMPO
