can bioball act as a denitrator in a sump then? i have half a compartment full of bio balls....

Bio-media is just a "house" for the bacteria to stay. It is the living condition that matters.

For nitrification, the presence of O2 is a must.
For denitrification, O2 is a taboo!

Do you want to achieve zero O2 within your sump?

hi atom , is a must for a coil denitrator to be feed ? because i've diy a coil denitrator only the 1st few days i feed with sugerwater n i can get reading of nitrator @ 0 then i stop feeding it n it has run for about a 6mth n i still can get 0 nitrator .does it mean a coil denitrator can go without feeding or it feeding on something els ? i've tested my water reading ammonia , nitrite , nitrate all @ 0ppm & ph 7.0 .wc 1 two week .

I wonder if this tread is still alive? Bro atom, gt a question to ask. Can I add deniball into my DIY coil denitrator? Because I wanted to get away the hassle to feed voka daily. I read ur first post till last, u never mention putting in deniball into coil system other then carbon base system. Pls advice. Thank u.
