We use glass in winter also. In Summer, we use Stainless steel net. Can you find it in your country?

Is there a way to edit my reply? Tks.

Or we can use plastic net with steel inside, or electrostatic painting steel net.

Suggestion for TS.

Don't drill too many holes for the glass cover.

You can glue 'legs' to the 4 corners of the glass cover.

Buy those rubber stopper (about 1 cm tall type) and glue them to the glass cover.

By raising the glass cover a little, there will be sufficient ventilation.

one thing good abt acrylic is that it will not break into shatters when hit with impact unlike glass.
bad is that it is nt as clear as glass.

I am not sure. I bought 2 pieces of 6mm already 20+. So I guess the price of a 10mm thickness acrylic allows you to get a glass cover. You can compare the prices first before buying.
