Thank you ranchus and forest!

But their growth is too slow to my liking... breeders have told me that they should be twice their size at this age...

Whatever your actual growth rate is, they look well developed full bodied fry to me.
Some breeders may get faster growth but perhaps the faster rate may produce coarse formed fish.
Stunted fry would never have the thick peduncles you now have.
I think you have the correct rate in my opinion.

Hello Forest,

It is possible to get high growth rates with good body and heagrowth, but in my limited experience color will be compromised. These few that I have have a very long peduncle, and is far from thick. Then again, it could be down to the genes, since 2 out of 3 that were used for their breeding had relatively thin peduncles.
