Some people believe that money drop from the sky or expect some other people to pay for them.

Unfortunately, that's the mentality of human being.

I was the committee member of Guppy Club Singapore (GCS) and know how important it is to have the $$$ so that the club can organise events, competition and etc to generate more/higher interest in the hobby and in the process get more members into the club. The starting period will always be the hardest as members and $$$ are little/limited. Most of the time, they have to look for sponsor from aquarium related company e.g. Tetra, Sera, Rainbow, QH and etc.

It is a chicken and egg scenario. People expect club to do this and do that to promote the hobby but how to do this and do that without $$$ (e.g collecting membership fee)?

Question is how dedicated/passionate you are with the hobby to fork out money for the membership. Usually, the membership fee are affordable, IMHO.
