I guess you guys here are more experience with he use of chillers.

What brand of chiller and horse power should I use for a tank of 6x2x2 at 26 C?

Anyone thinking of letting go his chiller?

Default Re: chiller for 6x2x2 tank

michael,

It's a bit hard to say, since it also depends on a large extent on the heat generated by the pumps and lights. Hence, no 2 tanks will be the same in terms of BTU for cooling. But for the average 6'X2'X2', you should be able to do pretty well on a 1/2HP chiller. Note that 1/2HP chillers can be quite pricey, hence they're not really good value for money. A more worthwhile alternative would be to use split unit chillers, where the compressor is an aircon compr., sitting outside the building, while the heat exchanger is usually in the cabinet under the tank. This method can be cheap, since you can use 2nd hand compressors dirt cheap (at least, here in M'sia)

you may want to get a Titanium chiller by Dr Chill from SGReef. be prepared though. the last I checked *a few days back*, a Ti 0.5hp would cost me $1450. :P but its really...tok kong quality if you ask me. (=
