Has anyone kept cardinal tetras longer than a year?

If its a bacteria, it will stay in the tank. Thats where you have to treat/sterilise the tank after.

my record is 9 months... I think their natural lifespan is shorter in captivity

I kept all my new arrival 100+tail cardinal in a 3.5ft tank.PH tank parameter is acidic at below 4ph.Scary lvl.of ph but my cardinal do well.The tank n filter media has been cycle more then a year.No sign of disease as well.Mortality rate is very low at this lower ph n color seem great.
