Mine does come up to the surface. All depends on the individual pnt.

PNTs arn't fishes they do not have swim bladder. But if they do swim sideways it could mean a very serious problem like respiratory infection which causes one side of the lungs to be inflamed thus leading to difference in bouncy on different sides that causes the "swim bladder" like problems.

Another could be a birth defect where one side of the shell is bigger then the other which also causes the diff in bouncy as mentioned.
Here is a vid about the birth defect.

Any pics?

Lung infection of PNTs are not easy to treat. Bring it to the vet. Injections are required for such cases. Keep it in shallow waters for the time being so that it don't get stressed out trying to balance itself or struggle to surface for air or to feed.

no, its been with me for 10 years. had a fungal infection a month plus ago, and it didnt want to eat the past month while i was treating it for its fungal infection. when i carried it just now i was shocked, it was like it lost half its body weight! used to be so heavy, now so light, im really worried.

and now it can only float at the water surface, cant swim down to the bottom, just like sbp for fishes. how can i help it?

It requires immediate veterinary attention. Bring it to a vet ASAP!
