Default using water from bedok reservoir

I am staying v near to bedok reservoir

I am just wondering can i use the water from there

to keep Shrimps since the water there "extra mature:

extra mature with extra contaminates. unless you can row out into the reservoir and collect water that's deeper down, the water you get near the bank will most likely be unclean.

and not forgetting extra stuffs like lavas of some insect or worse some pest.. so better be careful bro..

My bro in law shared that he once did WC for his kois using rain water collected from roof and all the kois belly up

Erm i think rainwater is partially acidic and since its from the roof, can't guarantee no bacteria and viruses...that's what caused their deaths probably...

I think its cos of the low ph of rain water and the possible dirt on the roof

The water in the reservoir is rather clean to keep for many other fishes but not for shrimps. Im quite sure the water contains some ammonia and nitrates which is detrimental to the shrimps health.

actually rainwater is good if you have fishes that like soft acidic water.
how and where you collect the rainwater is the issue. you have to do it at an open area where the rainwater will fall directly into the collection pail. then add the usual water conditioners (kiasu) before using.

but if you stay in an area that's pretty urban or industrial, better not try.
