Default Ranchu tank setup - problems?

hi all bros,

need your help again, am keeping ranchus in a 3 by 1.5 by 1.5 ft tank and also using the dolphin c-1600 canister filter.

its s simple setup, just the filter itself and the inlet hose in one corner and the outlet hose in another corner, but one problem is the poo poo of the fishes seems to be just staying at the centre bottom of the tank.

Can I chk is that suppose to be the way, or u guys actually clear it using a net or is my filter not doing its job.

Also by adding a ohf filter is it going to solve the problem of me going to manually scoop up the poo poo.

thank you once again for sharing your set up.

regards,
Lim

Add a small submersible pump like 300 to 600 flow rate or wave maker .

Please add that OHF asap as you are way overstocked for your tank size. 9x4" ranchus generate a LOT of poo and other waste that cannot be seen.

Make the OHF as big as you can. I'd suggest a liberal amount of high quality ceramic media like MarinePure spheres in that OHF, and a robust turnover rate. I've found that MP media colonizes exceptionally fast with beneficial bacteria.

You can set up the OHF to suck debris from the bottom, returning filtered water over the top. The OHF with a poly wool fines filter will do a better job than the Dolphin at handling the fish poo as it is easier to maintain.

The Dolphin can be used to take in relatively clean mid level and surface water, returning it to the bottom. The bottom return can be strategically placed to push the poo towards the intake for the OHF.
