Default 2 tanks, 1 canister & 1 chiller

Hi guys,

Would appreciate if anyone can help to figure out how to set up as below,

Objective is to set up a system to both tanks with 1 canister filter and 1 chiller

2 Tanks
-Tank 1, 3ft (upper tank)
-Tank 2, 2ft (lower tank) *lower tank is not direct under the tank above

1 Canister Filter
1 Chiller

Bro, I don't think linking up 2 tank and use a canister to works will do.

Even you install 1 overflow box or system, the return flow from the canister will be too low or none. This eventually will spoil the canister pump.

The result you plan to link up is because of the 1 chiller?

The one way I think this might work is if a third, common sump tank were used to collect the waste water for pumping to the canister. Flow back into each tank would be controlled by valving the outputs

I think for a 2ft or 3ft tank. Dun need sump tank. Just get another HOB or canister will do. Less headach in setup n in future.

Default Possible answer

The only way i can imagine is to cut a hole on the glass as an overflow to the 2nd tank. Canister and chiller runs off your 2nd tank and return to 1st tank.

without the overflow, you can use a pump as substitute, but if either pump fails...house flooded and 1 tank will empty (provided pump is at the bottom of tank). to be safe you can put pump in the middle of tank....then at least can safe yer fish haha, house still will flood 50% haha.

use stainless steel pipes to let the chilled water run through the tank.
