I think it is possible although I din try before. If it works for Aro, it should work for goldfishes too. Sounds like an idea. Tanning ranchus with submissable lights may help. Guess need to be aware of water temperature. I may want to give it a try.. hehe.

I use a auto timer for the nan light. Will monitor the temperature from now on.

I think this is a simple effective tub accomdating 2 young ranchus. Suggest the pump situated not too close to the side of the tub as fishes might get stuck while trying to swim through...it happened to me once and I lost a healthy ranchu whose head got stuck between the pump and the side wall.
Thanks for sharing and welcome to the goldfish community in here bro Big Ranchu |

You can do that unless the ranchus are provided with sunglasses.

Bros,
Just to share too, i used to have that light for my aro, it works, but after a while i find it not doing well (food or shit stuck to it) due to the cleaning, So i hang the tube outside, then due to the heat, the casing crack (or maybe mine is a lousy quality one), so i think the same fitting in the photo is good for in the water as the water cools it just like the submisible pump. Therefore my thinking is that if using a submersible light fitting, put it inside (and bare with the cleaning), but if putting it over the top, better to get one suitable for it. finally, wonder if it work better to have submersible light for GF, I have only read before that they need light, so i put a light on top and for viewing. |

I agree with bro chris. That's a NAN light for tanning aro ya? Not too sure if it will work for GF. I do feel uncomfortable doing that.
Basically, the setup is simple, neat and clean. The basic essentials are in place, a good start!! The pump seems over powered for the fishes in such a small tub. Two suggestions: 1. To remove the nan light and use a T5 or MH instead from above. 2. To use a much smaller powered pump prehaps something between 100-150 L/hr. And use a container at the bottom of the outlet end to reduce the current of the water gushing in. Cheers!!! |
