Hi Guys,
In the process of renting some ponds to keep some of my TVRs. Will list some of the tips gathered from friends: - Ponds must not be too far from home - Individual medium size ponds better than one large one - Check the water source used by the farm - Feeding frequency and whether fish farm owner is responsible person - Mid week checks on the fish is preferred - Security concerns - Experience of the fish farmer with goldfish keeping and disease treatment - Good for TVRs development as the size and head growtha nd color gets enhanced the natural way There are many farms nowadays that rent out ponds to hobbyists - Jalan Kayu - Lorong Harlus - Sungei Tengah - Lim Chu Kang This are some of the areas that I have came across farms renting out their ponds but off hand I do not have the addresses. Think you have to first decide where you want the ponds to be and then ask around ... I am sure you will have at least a few options to choose from. With Best Regards, Samuel Phan |

This is a good point. Just wonder how many fish farmers in Singapore are experience in goldfish keeping. We know all the goldfish are imported from China, Japan Thaiand and some said Malaysia. |

Must at least know the basics ...
But it is not very true that there are no goldfish farms ... I know of one in Sungei Tengah that breeds Ho-Kim ... so quite close to goldfish in general. But din rent from them cos due to security reason ... gotta build your own "cage" to surround your ponds to ward of any stealing attempts. Quote:

Another type of GF ... Ho-Kim is in Hokkien dialect ... in mandarin we call it He-Jin.
Looks like a cross between GF and Koi. Quote:

A honest farm owner is also very impt ... heard of stories that the farm owner scoop the fishes of pond tenants for their own sale.
