power failure, sump tank overflow
hi to all bros
pardon my noob-ness, i recently acquired a N30 322 cab sump tank (typical overflow and underflow with sump abt 2.5ft) fr a friendly bro here. as this is my first time owning a cab sump tank, i was toying the event of power failure what will happen to my tank. basis my several experiments done during this exercise, i found that the sump tank will be overflowed in the event of power failure. is this how it should be, or am i setting it up wrongly, or is there any solution to this? thanks in advance for all contributions. |

Sometimes the if this is the case, when pump stops water will back flow via return pipe, siphon effect. |

yes, i have a rainbar at the bottom of my main tank, the return pipe is connected to my eheim pump.
so does that mean that if i remove the rainbar and have my outlet pipe at the top of the the main tank i wont have this problem? |

Alternatively, install an anti-back flow valve. |

You should have a hole drilled near the end of the outlet pipe to ensure there is no back flow.

A small hole drill on the return pipe in the main tank just around the water level will do. It will break the siphon effect when you off your return pump.
