Vandalism is punishable by caning. But these are private properties and not state properties thus this charge and punishment may not apply.

Civil suit, compensation nia.

Problem lies with the selfish attitude of these handful of Singaporeans (who gives us a bad name).... We have so many instances of Singaporeans and their mischief.... just can't understand what's in their primitive monkey mind!

I'm ok they use the trolley to bring big bulk of groceries home, and return it soonest possible...

Guess one day, these trolley will be fixed with some other technology that disable or identify it once it goes beyond the supermarket's radius... maybe they shd charge those who push it out of the boundaries, $1 per meter. See who want to push it away.

Use cashcard to use trolley! Good idea right? Can this idea be proposed to supermarkets? Maybe I shd suggest it. CB idiots caused inconvenience to others.

Using the similar concept (tied to credit/debit cards), if bicycles are not parked in designated spots, the charges continues. See if these idiots will park at designated spots bo.

Even for bulky items, should not use supermarket trolley as it will damage the wheels. Such wheels are not meant for outside use. For bulky items, shoppers should make their own arrangement. How many once taken the trolley home will return immediately. I've seen near my block a chain of 5 to 6 trolleys parked inline at the void deck. Wonder if it's the same shopper or a group of them.

To be honest I see more responsible users compared to irresponsible ones.
Yes, plenty of irresponsible people. But I do think responsible ones outnumber those.

That's the main problem. Nevermind that people use it but not returning is just unacceptable.

Of cos more responsible than irresponsible ones. If it was the other way around, supermarket trolleys (or in this case, rental bicycles) won't exist anymore.

But 1% of users who are inconsiderate is enough. Not even 1 user should abuse that privilege. Just reflects very deeply what kind of moron such ppl are.

Yes, 1% in a perfect world is a shame... but we are not living in a perfect world.

HOWEVER, Social norms usually will exert an unseen force to help reduce the % gradually IF we all work together to keep reminding the 1%

Have a little faith in people la..

Faith???

In the 90s and earlier, we don't see so many beh zi tong idiots littering the streets....

Unseen force? These handful are a shame to the nation of well educated citizens. Maybe the unseen force lead to more and more idiots we have today.

Even we take this 1 step further. Hotel rooms. How many ppl deliberately left the aircon on when they go out the whole day? Why? They paid for the room, the abused the electricity because they deem they have already paid for it. SO? We are doing a huge load of harm to the environment that our next generation(s) will suffer from.

There, we have it...

Unseen force indeed huh...

I wish hotels come up with some technology to charge ppl more for abusing... make them pay. Just like the innovative SP Services forcing those who can't afford to pay their utility bills, to go into a prepaid model.
