No need...
Water is actually hanging around the compartment longer before being moved to next one... The bubbling plays a big part.

Water is moving all over the place lah.. Through or around the media. My compartment us huge unlike the usual sump compartment. And with so much media and bubbling, each water molecule that enters the compartment does not flow straight down to be quickly pushed into next compartment.. The probability of the water molecule staying in the compartment longer is higher..

Considering any media... Ceramic Rings, Bacteria House, Biohomme... they will suck in water but when u take them out of the water, they wont release water (not so easily)..

As for Marine Pure, they suck in water and release water like sponge. I noticed this when first handle this media. When dry. It's very light. When wet, it's really heavy with water. But once you take it out of water, the absorbed water flows out quickly like you holding a sponge.

As such I am not worry about water not passing through the Marine Pure.

Thank you so much for the long reply! I was also wondering where you buy such big blocks of marine pure? I've seen the spheres and small cubes but not so big blocks!

Thanks again

Imo, I dun think so water will pass thru the block with your arrangement....your explaining of water draining fast from block does not apply to your arrangement either, unless the free flow of water is cut off to being channel to pass thru block, otw, an inserted air tube into block and it'll work juz like the sponge filter.

Well... Does not matter to me who may be wrong in this.
In the end its all about the final results of how the fishes are.
This morning everyone is fine and active. Rays are doing chin Ups and water spitting as usual.

thanks for sharing bro

Looking at the setup the same initial thoughts I had - don't think water will flow thru your marine pure blocks, but rather around it. It will always flow where there's path of least resistance

Cheers
