aggressiveness is not based on size. even if the size is over 10" diff the smaller one can still become the alpha/aggressor. so it can be done, but whether it'll be successful or not i can't tell u cause i dont know the temperaments of your existing aros and the new aro.

Bro, size may matter but the genes of the dominant fish too.
How about the size of your tank? |

I comm a 5" red with a 15" xb with 20 plus Angels sometime ago.
First few days tonmonths were horrific.. Daily injuries on the red, nothing serious but still disturbing considering its $650 gamble. In the end, they turned out well, and are friends at peace most of the time.. My red has a slightly aggressive nature compared to the xb.. Xb is now 19" and red is at 10". Red dorminates food all the time, xb jus chill out and eats when hungry, occasionally red will get some beating for misbehaving or disrespecting the xb, but all is well for now.. My Aros are pellet trained from young, they don't grow as fast as wet or live food, but at least they hv better temprement, and don't associate tank mates as food.. So for me, it works very well and perfect comm.( at least for now) But it will highly depend on methods, environment, temprement and a bit of luck to get it right.. So all the best, and pls monitor closely n don't be complacent, if it needs to be removed, u must be prepared. Although I would say, don't be too paranoid when u see injury, it's bond to happen and it requires nerves.. |

currently, my 8-yr old goldie comm with the 1-yr old ocsar in a 422.
Yes, at times there will be bickering between the two. The the oscar is aggressor ended up with some torn fins here & there. With good water parameters, superficial injuries will heal fast. |
