redcross Need opinion on gill curl patient

I have a friend who has an arowana which was operated for gill curl,
The operation seems to be successful, but he noticed that the arowana seem to be breathing heavily on only one side of the gill, the other side its breathing normally,
What could be the problem?
Can gill curl damage the gills? This piece the curl is only on the soft part.

Any suggestions/advise?

Thanks.

without pictures it would be challenging to ascertain for sure.

notwithstanding, am assuming one gill side was over-cut and the aro is just struggling a bit more than usual to get the water flow moving through the gills (without the flap it's certainly tougher). anyway, until the flap grows back a bit the aro could just be compensating with this behaviour. hope it goes away soon enough though.

Just a guess.

cheerz

Psychological effect............ Gill curl don damage gills, only water parameters and chemicals will damage it.

If in doubt, do not buy. It is not worth the heartache when something happens
