Thanks bro. Think coral chips might not have a huge impact but it might work better in FW. I am going to try marine buffers by Reef as recommended.

Thanks bro. Do you know if there is any difference between using this buffer and Reef Builder?

reef builder is used to raise carbonate but it does raise pH if im not wrong.. since reef buffer is used to raise pH to 8.3, guess its better to use that.

Yes bro. It does raise ph over time but much slower than the buffer. It also puts back some stuff lost when we increase the alkalinity.

When buffering, its advisable to measure calcium & kH as both parameters need to be kept relatively balanced(Calcium: 350-450ppm, kH: 8-12). If one is too high while the other one is too low, precipitation can occur.

Some additives only raise calcium or kH and you might need to use both to maintain the balance. A two part additive(contains both calcium & kH) like kalkwasser can also be used to buffer the pH as well.

For your tank size, coral sand and life rock should be enough?
